In addition to be being an accomplished guitarist, Teja writes about guitar-related subjects. A full-time staff member of Acoustic Guitar magazine since 1997, he has written hundreds of articles, ranging from guitar reviews, articles on custom luthiers and instrument trends, to travelogues, artist profiles and lessons on playing the guitar. As the magazine's Gear Editor, he has visited all major manufacturers of acoustic guitars in the US and Canada, and several in Europe. He has interviewed luthiers from around the world.
Teja has also contributed to several book projects. In 2003, Akustische Gitarren was published by Germany's G.C. Carstensen Verlag, with Teja being the primary author (along with Michael Simmons, Frank Ford, and Richard Johnston) and project coordinator. This 432 page book is a guide to everything relating to the history and construction of the acoustic guitar (steel-string flattop, classical, archtop, and others). In 2005, Hal Leonard published a licensed English language version of the title.
Another book project completed in 2003 included several contributions to the Acoustic Guitars: The Illustrated Encyclopedia, published by Thunder Bay Press.
Teja contributed a chapter on advanced fingerstyle techniques to Backbeat Books' title Play Acoustic, due for publication in 2005.
Teja was the assistant editor for Custom Guitars, A Complete Guide to Contemporary Handcrafted Guitars, published by String Letter Publishing, and he wrote the book's chapter on specialty guitars. Other String Letter Publishing books featuring Teja's contributions include The Acoustic Guitar Owner's Manual, and Performing Acoustic Music.
Teja served as a consultant for The
Tipbook Company's title Acoustic Guitar, and his English/German
translation services have been used by companies including Mesa
Engineering amplifiers and Synthesis
Publications.
